Our Team
-
At Parks For All, we champion the importance of well-funded, accessible parks as essential to quality of life in New Orleans. We advocate for equitable public support, community-driven planning, and city-wide strategies like a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan and ongoing park evaluations. Through collaboration with residents, civic leaders, and partner organizations, we work to ensure open green spaces are protected, prioritized for neighborhood needs, and managed according to best practices.
-
We believe parks should belong first and foremost to the people who live in our communities. That means opposing commercial overdevelopment of public green space, promoting fair distribution of park resources, and ensuring that every neighborhood—especially historically underserved ones—has safe, welcoming places to gather, play, and connect with nature. Our board reflects that belief: members come from neighborhoods across the city—Mid-City, the East, Algiers, Uptown, and beyond—and represent a range of ages and cultural backgrounds, because meaningful advocacy for parks requires meaningful representation of the people who use them. Our work reflects values of equity, stewardship, community well-being, and active civic engagement.
-
Parks For All began in 2014 as a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) addressing inequities in parks and recreation citywide. Since then, we’ve grown into an advocacy organization focused on securing supportive policies, financial backing, and thoughtful planning for green space throughout New Orleans. From pushing for a unified parks master plan to sustaining efforts like park report cards and public engagement initiatives, our mission is rooted in empowering citizens to have a voice in shaping the parks they deserve.
